Gentle Chiropractic

We offer low-force chiropractic and physiotherapy techniques to help you recover from injury/surgery, restore mobility, and balance your nervous system- so you can feel and function your best. Our holistic and non-invasive therapies are safe for all ages and stages of life, from infants to adults.

Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT) is a specialized chiropractic technique that addresses the functional relationship between the sacrum (the base of your spine), and the occiput (the base of your skull). Altered pelvic alignment can negatively affect the hips, diaphragm, back, shoulders, neck and jaw, as well as the flow of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF).

The sacrum and occiput act as a pump for cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), which circulates around your brain and spinal cord, supporting your nervous system by delivering nutrients and removing waste. Misalignments in the pelvis or spine can disrupt this flow, leading to discomfort and dysfunction. SOT helps restore pelvic balance and CSF flow, helping your body function optimally.

The body is like a suspension bridge, with each part working together to maintain balance and stability. Just as a bridge adapts to shifting loads, your body responds to daily physical strains by adjusting its structure. However, when one area becomes misaligned or weakened, the entire system compensates, which can lead to pain and dysfunction.

Techniques & Therapies

Pelvic Blocking

Pelvic blocking is a gentle technique in SOT that uses specialized wedge-shaped blocks specifically placed under the pelvis while the patient lies down. By utilizing gravity, the body’s weight helps guide the pelvis and spine back into alignment without twisting or popping, promoting spinal health and improving cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) flow.

Cranial Therapy

Cranial therapy focuses on gently manipulating the cranial bones using gentle pressure and breath work to relieve tension in the dura mater, the connective tissue surrounding the brain and spinal cord. This non-invasive technique enhances CSF circulation and nervous system function, effectively addressing issues like headaches and TMJ dysfunction.

Cervical Stair Step Technique

This technique addresses misalignments in the cervical spine through gentle, sequential adjustments of the neck vertebrae. This gentle mobilization of the joints promotes overall spinal alignment and muscle relaxation, helping reduce tension headaches and neck pain.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial release targets tension in the fascia and surrounding muscles. This targeted soft tissue technique alleviates muscle tension, adhesions, improves circulation, and enhances mobility.

TMJ Therapy

TMJ therapy targets pain and dysfunction in the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) through gentle manipulation and myofascial release. The jaw and pelvis are deeply interconnected through our fascial network.

Tension or dysfunction in the pelvis can influence jaw alignment and muscle tension, while TMJ issues can lead to compensatory patterns affecting pelvic function.

Breath Work

Across these techniques, breath work is used to help activate the parasympathetic nervous system, CSF flow, and promote healing.

Static/Dynamic Cupping

A therapeutic technique that uses negative pressure to promote blood flow, release muscle tension, and reduce inflammation. Static cupping involves placing the cups in one spot to draw out stagnation, while dynamic cupping gently glides the cups across the skin to stimulate deeper tissue and fascia. This can help relieve pain, improve mobility, and enhance overall recovery.

Near Infrared(NIR)/Red Light Therapy

A non-invasive treatment that uses near-infrared (NIR) and red light wavelengths to penetrate deep into the skin, promoting cellular repair, reducing inflammation, and enhancing circulation. This therapy supports faster healing, pain relief, and improved skin health. Safe and relaxing, it's an effective way to boost your body’s natural recovery processes and enhance healing.

We tailor every session to meet the specific needs of each patient, addressing individual imbalances and goals for a truly personalized healing experience.
